Michael Smethurst

Michael Smethurst has been instrumental in driving the BBC’s adoption of semantic web standards and open linked data. Formerly an information architect in the BBC Radio Labs, he helped develop the Programmes site; the first ever permanent record of the corporation’s broadcast output, and the Music site; an experiment in marrying Wikipedia and Musicbrainz data with radio airplay.

Michael has authored numerous inspirational insights on how web products should be built. He is a keen advocate of domain modelling, RESTful design and live prototyping. He enjoys Star Wars Lego, angry tweeting, and not wireframing.
